Jim Manion, RICP®

Financial Planner / Partner

For nearly 25 years, I have had the opportunity to assist individuals and families with their unique financial goals and dreams.  I consider it a responsibility and a privilege to be my clients’ advocate, looking out for their best interests.  A personalized plan addresses the specific issues and concerns critical to making wise financial decisions.  It is my commitment to provide those I serve with the education, advice, and service they need to build a comprehensive, effective plan.

I've been married to my best friend, Lisa, for over 25 years and we are the proud parents of two adult sons.  Our youngest is now in college and our oldest is a licensed assistant here at Lakeshore Financial Group.  Now that Lisa and I are members of the "empty nest" club, we are finding ourselves amid a different kind of busy.  We enjoy traveling, time at the lake, stargazing, hiking, discussing the latest book and spending time with our family.  We profoundly enjoy this new phase of our marriage:  pursuing an intentional life and freeing ourselves from the endless distractions of this digital age.

I am an Investment Adviser Representative and General Securities Representative of Commonwealth Financial Network®.  My registrations include FINRA Series 6 (Investment Company Products/Variable Contracts), Series 7 (General Securities Representative), Series 24 (Registered Securities Principal), Series 63 (Uniform Securities Agent State Law), and Series 66 (Uniform Combined State Law).  I am also licensed for life and health insurance.

I am a past president of the Grand Rapids Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors.  I earned my BA in business communications from Calvin University and I hold the Retirement Income Certified Professional (RICP®) designation.

One way that we feel led to help transform our world, is through giving.  A few of the organizations that we actively support:  Cure International, Hand2Hand Ministries, Alpha Grand Rapids, Ada Bible Church, as well as others.  Part of our ongoing mission is to encourage others to be active in their community and to help those in need.

Amy M. Dowling, CFP®

Financial Planner / Partner

I love being a financial professional and enjoy putting my knowledge, experience, and talents to use serving my clients.  With the relationship I have built with each client, I take on the responsibility to help you with your entire financial well-being.  I am committed to having the resources needed to take care of all of your financial needs.

I am a graduate of Central Michigan University.  I have practiced as a financial advisor since 1999.  My nearly 20 years of experience has contributed to my skill, proficiency, insight, and understanding of retirement and investment planning, insurance, banking, customer service, and overall financial planning.

I am a member of the West Michigan Estate Planning Council and the Financial Services Institute (FSI).

I achieved the requirements to be a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER practitioner in January 2011.  This certification has four requirements.  An important requirement to be certified as CFP® practitioners is that we must abide by ongoing strict Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct rules. The educational requirement I completed was at Grand Valley State University, at their Seidman Financial Planning Certification Program in 2010. This program required the completion of courses in Principles of Financial Planning, Insurance Planning, Investment Planning, Personal Income Tax Planning, Estate Planning, Retirement Planning, and Employee Benefits. I had completed the experience requirement.  The decisive requirement to be granted the CFP® designation was passing a grueling two-day exam in the fall of 2010.

I am an Investment Adviser Representative (IAR) and General Securities Representative of Commonwealth Financial Network®. My registrations include FINRA Series 6 (Investment Company and Variable Contracts Securities License), Series 7 (General Securities Representative License), Series 63 (Uniform Securities Agent State Law), and Series 65 (Uniform Investment Adviser Law). I am also licensed for life and health insurance.

I look forward to serving my current and future clients, their family, and friends for many years to come!

Andrew Brown, LUTCF®

Financial Planner / Partner

After graduating from Central Michigan University in 2008 with a degree in financial planning, I began working as a financial advisor. In 2014, I transitioned my practice to Lakeshore Financial Group to be part of an independent firm. I believe it is of great value to be part of a firm whose focus is on the success of our clients rather than the profitability of the employing broker/dealer.

Over the past decade, I have enjoyed the opportunity to connect with those in the community and gain insight on how to better help people meet their financial goals. The most enjoyable aspect of being an advisor is the opportunity to build long lasting client/advisor friendships, there is nothing more exciting than to see the growth of friends.

Along with a Bachelor’s Degree in financial planning, I hold the Life Underwriter Training Counsel Fellow (LUTCF®) designation.

I am an Investment Adviser Representative and General Securities Representative of Commonwealth Financial Network®. My registrations include FINRA Series 7 (General Securities Representative), Series 63 (Uniform Securities Agent State Law), and Series 65 (Uniform Combined State Law). I am also licensed for life and health insurance.

My wife, Ashley, and I live in Cascade with our two children. We enjoy spending time boating, outdoors, and serving with our church community.

Zach Manion

Licensed Assistant

Over the past three years, I have had the incredible opportunity to work alongside my dad and learn the financial planning business from the ground up.  I’ve always enjoyed learning new things and applying them to the real world.  The best part of all, is getting to know and work with great people each day!  I look forward to continuing my role as a full-time licensed assistant and supporting the team at Lakeshore Financial Group, as they serve and guide clients.

I graduated from Grand Valley State University in December of 2022 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a major in finance.  My registrations include FINRA Series 7 (General Securities Representative) and FINRA Series 66 (Uniform Combined State Law). I am also licensed for life and health insurance.

Heidi Mulholland

Client Support / Operations Specialist

As the client support and operations specialist, I work to ensure a pleasant experience for our clients.  Along with coordinating firm operations, I assist with all aspects of client service.  I enjoy using my knowledge and experience so that our clients receive the best of service. I have been working in the financial field since 2007.  I previously worked as an office administrator for 16 years.

My husband, Chad, and I live in the Grandville area with our two teenagers. We enjoy spending time with our family and friends at our pool. We also love camping in Pentwater and Grand Haven.

Lisa Manion

Office Coordinator / Client Support

As the office coordinator, I am excited to apply my knowledge and experience in helping to provide a welcoming environment to our clients.  It is our priority that clients receive the best service, and I am thankful for the role that I get to play in making this a reality.  I have the best job—interacting with people, planning events and assisting with day-to-day operations.

I’ve been married to my husband, Jim (my greatest blessing), for over 25 years.  We are the proud parents of two boys who bring so much joy and laughter to our family.  Our youngest is currently in college studying marketing management, while our oldest is a licensed assistant here at Lakeshore Financial Group.  Jim and I are thoroughly enjoying this stage of life and marriage.  We absolutely love spending time together traveling, hiking, stargazing, discussing the latest book, and of course, time at the lake with our boys.  With God’s guidance and grace, we are pursuing an intentional life - freeing ourselves from the endless distractions and seductions of this digital world.

Along with experience in retail management, I hold a BA in business psychology from Calvin University.
